Job Title: Android Developer
Job location: Brooklyn, NY
Employer: Stray Boots
Employment Type: Full-Time Job
Job Description
We're considering multiple levels of experience for this Android development position: a junior developer who is a fast learner and already has a solid grounding in real-world software development, or a mid-level developer who is ready to sink their teeth into a project and take ownership of the architecture and design.
You'll be maintaining and developing new features for our Android application. We already have a product, but it's nowhere near finished — we have tons of new features in the pipeline. One week you'll be developing a social sharing interface, the next developing a traveling-salesman algorithm: you'll never lack for variety. We have lots of fun new features on the horizon, such as head-to-head gameplay and photo scrapbooks — not to mention the things we haven't thought of yet!
As our primary Android developer, you will have access to top-notch mentorship, but should be able to work independently. You'll be joining a small, dedicated development team as just our seventh technical hire, and will have tons of say in where we take our product.
Android Developer | Requirements:
- Java
- Familiarity with Android SDK and development environment
- Version control with Git, Mercurial, SVN, or equivalent
- Object-oriented programming
- Strike a balance between Getting It Just Right and Getting It Done
- 1 – 7 years professional software development experience
- Based in NYC Area
Android Developer | Preferred:
- 1+ years Android development
- An Android app in the Google Play store
- Experience integrating with third-party web-based APIs (e.g. Google Places)
- RESTful API experience
- A punny side
Compensation commensurate with experience. To apply, send cover letter and sample code to us, and tell us why you're excited about working for Stray Boots.
