Job Title: iOS Engineer
Job location: San Francisco, CA
Employer: Thumbtack
Employment Type: Full-Time Job
Job Description
Thumbtack is looking to build an amazing mobile experience for hundreds of thousands of users. Both sides of the Thumbtack marketplace (service providers and their clients) will benefit massively from enhanced mobile experiences. Imagine what you might do if you could run your business from your iPhone? If you could hire a service provider at any time day or night with just a few taps? The sky is the limit.
The front-end team at Thumbtack invests heavily in responsive web design and fast, elegant mobile experiences. We've seen this investment pay off incredibly. But we think we can do better with a fully native experience.
We're looking for someone who's built great iOS experiences in the past. We're new to this, so need some guidance. That said, you'll be working with great engineering and design teams who will be eager to assist you in making something really exceptional.
iOS Engineer | Requirements:
- Excellent iOS/Objective-C engineer who is passionate about great design
- Have released apps on the App Store. We're looking for someone who's done this before.
- Excited by the potential of mobile technology to transform the lives of small businesses around the country.
- Great communicator. We find that people who are good writers tend to be great thinkers and great coders.
Why Should You Join Us?
- Incredible Traction: We're now helping millions of consumers a year across the country find the right pro and driving our business owners more than a quarter billion dollars worth of jobs annually. Sequoia just invested $12.5m so we can take Thumbtack to the next level. We're just getting started.
- Talented team: Our team is talented, fun, and passionate about what we do. We're also an intellectually curious bunch, and come from a variety of interesting backgrounds (Google, The White House, Stanford MBA dropout, Yale Law, WolframAlpha, etc).
- Enormous opportunity: Local services are a $500+ billion market and the space is wide open. This is your opportunity to get in at the ground floor of a dent-making company that is solving a real problem for real people.
Benefits
- Chef-Prepared Food: Our chef prepares lunch and dinner daily in our in-office kitchen. Lunches and Wednesday team dinners are a time to gather around a communal table and invite friends to the office to savor the unique dishes and heady conversation. We feel passionate that great food is part of building a great company, and Esquire Magazine thought our food was good enough to write about.
- High-Quality Health Care: Health, dental and vision insurance for you and your dependents, with 100% of premiums covered by us. We also cover the membership fee to One Medical so you'll have access to high-quality, modern health care.
- Compensation: Competitive salary and equity, and access to a 401(k) program.
- Flexibility: We believe in working very hard, but we have flexible hours. We don't have a vacation policy.
- Beautiful Office: A beautiful loft office close to the Powell Street Muni and BART, bus lines and Caltrain.
- Great Equipment: Huge monitors and the work environment of your choice, Mac, Ubuntu, FreeBSD, whatever makes you most productive.
- Thumbtack Bucks: $500 when you start and $150 per month thereafter to spend hiring service professionals on Thumbtack. Education Reimbursement: $1500/year for books, classes, conferences or other educational expenses to help you gain new skills or expertise.
: Love, inspiration and emoticons from our 200+ person remote teams in the Philippines and Las Vegas
Company Description
Ever wonder why you can buy any product you want online with a single click, but you can't hire a DJ, photographer, handyman, house cleaner, or any other service without making a dozen phone calls? So did we.
Thumbtack is making it dramatically easier for consumers to hire local service pros. We have incredible traction, a talented and passionate team, just raised $12.5m from Sequoia, and are excited to be solving a real problem for real people. Come build the future with us

Job Title: iOS Developer
Job location: Cincinnati, OH
Employer: Roadtrippers
Employment Type: Full-Time Job
Job Description
Where We're Coming From
The open road. That's what it's all about. Driving down long stretches of asphalt, pulling over at a local diner for some grub, and discovering the most incredible roadside wonders.
Co-founders James Fisher and Tatiana Parent suffer from an incurable case of wanderlust. So, they decided to design a web and mobile platform that streamlines discovery, planning, booking and navigation into one engaging road trip planner.
Powered by a fleet of local experts and travel writers, Roadtrippers features a seemingly infinite database of amazing places (actually 75,000+ to be slightly more exact). We do the hard part, so you can have the adventure of a lifetime. At its core, Roadtrippers aims to inspire and promote awareness for local, offbeat and culturally stimulating experiences. After all, as Emerson's taught us, it's all about the journey.
Roadtrippers is a fast growing, venture funded startup based in OTR, Cincinnati.Learn more at Roadtrippers.com.
The Journey
Roadtrippers began as web application but mobile has always been on our mind. It's all about getting out there and onto the open road. But you know that! Roadtrippers' iOS mobile team is responsible for compressing the 13" desktop experience into 4" and simplifying it at the same time. It's no small feat, but someone has to do it. As an iOS Developer you will create core features and make Roadtrippers the top Travel and Tourism app.
Points of Interest
Success as an iOS Developer at Roadtrippers means you can take mockups and UI diagrams and make them work. You understand the importance of speed and simplicity in a mobile app and appreciate the operating system and hardware bestowed upon us from One Infinite Loop. Some call you an Apple fanboy, maybe you prefer enthusiast — either way there's some truth to it. We won't care. We'll call you whichever you prefer.
iOS Developer | Requirements:
- Knowledge of Core Data, Core Location, Mapkit, and Foundation frameworks
- Experience with Google Maps, Google Analytics, and Facebook iOS SDK's
- Understanding of Objective-C multithreading and Grand Central Dispatch
- Experience utilizing web API's within iOS applications
- Experience with Cocoa Pods library manager
- A passion for building an awesome consumer facing product, used by thousands every day
- A rampant hunger for learning, self improvement and willingness to accept constructive criticism
- A good sense of humor and healthy enjoyment of chilled malt beverages
