Job Description

Looking to join a cutting-edge, venture-backed technology company with huge vision and a team full of brilliant, fun, talented people?

We understand that great people make the best products and we're actively adding to our existing team of rockstar front-end developers. If you live and breathe Objective C, creating awesome user experiences and working with emerging technology, read on…

About The Dev Team

Our goal is to put out the highest quality product as quickly, efficiently and with as much fun as possible. We push code several times a day and run on weekly sprints. We're a team of A-players — best-in-class developers — that work amazingly well together. We do peer code-reviews, give constructive feedback to each other, and share the things we learn with each other all the time. Our voices are heard when it comes to the direction of the product. We are involved in all aspects of taking features from idea to production, including setting timelines.

About the Role

We are looking for a talented iOS developer that will be a pivotal member of our team. You will be working closely with our backend engineers & amazing design team to help create & take ownership of a native version of a native mobile version of our web-based app (and prototype webview-based iPhone app we've been quietly testing). In the future, you'll also play a key part of creating a similar native iPad app.

A great fit for this role is someone who is always intrigued by new technology and is constantly finding better ways to write beautiful, shareable, reusable and solid code.

iOS Developer | Required

  • Extensive experience with iOS development, including XCode & Objective C
  • A positive attitude and enjoy working in a team environment
  • A strong desire to keep learning (we move fast, use cutting-edge tech, and constantly have "ah-ha" moments solving complex problems)
  • A personality that balances humor, maturity, professionalism, motivation/drive and the ability to hang shot for shot when we drink (unless you really, really don't want to)

We've run one of the most awesome tech stacks in SoCal:
Front End: AngularJS, Node,js, CoffeeScript, Stylus, Jade, jQuery, Underscore.js, Jasmine, Testacular, Crossroads.js, and various jQuery plugins
Back End: Python, MongoDB, Neo4j, TitanDB, Redis, Cassandra, Elastic Search, Puppet, Fabric

Full-Time Job: Android Developer, Charlottesville, VA (Willow Tree Apps)

Posted: 15 Jan 2013 02:05 PM PST

Job Title: Android Developer

Job location: Charlottesville, VA

Employer: Willow Tree Apps

Employment Type: Full-Time Job

Job Description

Android Developer

As an Android developer at WillowTree Apps, you will be responsible for your work and your team's project. You need to be a self-starter with a passion for pushing the boundaries and delivering best-in-class mobile apps. This is not a place for those that want a "job" but a place that fosters, and requires, an entrepreneurial attitude. This is not a place that puts you into a cubicle and then forgets about you — in fact, there are no cubicles whatsoever at WillowTree Apps.

We use GitHub, embrace continuous integrations and testing, prefer "scrum"-style stand-ups and hang out on our own secure IRC channel (svn users are welcome, but we will convert you).

We work with a number of industries including retail, education, gaming, healthcare and manufacturing. These companies range from small business to Fortune 1000s. We are profitable, pay our team members at or above fair market salaries, provide a quality benefits package and offer an opportunity to participate in a company-wide stock option plan.

WillowTree Apps is one of the largest and most respected mobile development companies in the US. Our entire 40+ person team is located in our Charlottesville, VA headquarters. Nothing is outsourced overseas. Our open office environment is designed to facilitate collaboration both among our teams (e.g. a developer walking over to the design team for a clarification or a design tweak) and within each team (e.g. a senior iOS team member pair programming with a junior member).

Our developers are second to none — with expertise across the nuances of iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows Phone 7, Blackberry and mobile web/HTML5 design best practices. Our team members are frequent speakers at mobile design conferences. We hire the best in the industry.

To apply for the position please be sure to meet the criteria listed below:
1] You currently reside in or near Charlottesville, VA or are willing to relocate to the area.
2] You have been working with Android and Java for at least 2 years
3] You have written and published at least 3 Android apps

Posted: 15 Jan 2013 01:25 PM PST

Job Title: iOS Developer

Job location: Las Vegas, NV

Employer: Romotive

Employment Type: Full-Time Job

Job Description

We're a team of nerds building an affordable and fun robot named Romo. By combining smartphones with a robotic base, we create robots that do really cool things (telepresence, autonomous navigation, machine vision) for a fraction of the price. We design our hardware and software in the apartment building where most of us live and work. We're a tight tribe, and when we aren't coding, soldering, or traveling to our factory in China, we're probably playing Starcraft in our awesome office or rock climbing at the local gym.

We're well-funded by a strong team of investors including Ron Conway, Mike Arrington, Chris Dixon, Tony Hsieh, and Stanford University. They are all invested in Romotive because they want us to change the world. That's where you come in:

We're looking for a senior iOS dev to join our software team. Ideally you've got 3+ years of experience building rock solid apps in Objective C.

iOS Developer | Required:

  • You've built apps that push the bounds of what's possible with the Mac and/or iOS SDK.
  • You've allocated a significant portion of your professional career to wrangling Objective C, logging many lonely hours in front of XCode.
  • You've taken ownership of a product from initial concept to polished launch.

iOS Developer | Preferred:

  • You've open sourced something and your libraries save developers a lot of time & effort.
  • You've got experience in CoreAudio, OpenGL, Image Processing with the GPU, SIP, NAT Traversal.
  • Your only memory leaks, if any, are strangers' names and birthdays.
  • You can handle bad puns.
  • You love robots.

iOS Developer | Responsibilities

  • Leading our mobile app development track.
  • Working on apps that enable robots to track objects, map a room, recognize voices, conduct telepresence sessions, and other cool stuff.
  • Joining a killer team passionate about putting a robot into every household in the US.

Details:

Position is full time. You start yesterday. What? You're not already on a plane to Vegas? We subsidize rent in an awesome luxury condo building (hot tub! hot tub!), provide 3 meals a day, subsidize gym memberships, and cover you 100% for health, vision, and dental insurance. You also get 5k to set up the development environment that you've dreamed about but never had.
